SUBASH KUNDANMAL

Subash Kundanmal is an actor and writer based in Los Angeles. He recently appeared in the Albert Brooks film LOOKING FOR COMEDY IN THE MUSLIM WORLD, Comedy Central's WINDY CITY HEAT, BALL AND CHAIN, and the film GREEN CARD FEVER. His television credits include the NBC pilot OVERSEAS, CBS's JAG, and ABC's ALIAS. He played the father in the Mark Taper production of RICE BOY, the Armenian in the stage production of AS GOOD AS IT GETS and presently plays the role of the Sultan of Agraba and the Narrator in Disney's musical spectacular ALLADIN. His voice over credits include Wadirum's TWILIGHT MEN, which he co-produced, as well as THE TERMINAL, BLACK HAWK DOWN, THE GURU, THE SOPRANOS, and PBS’s NEW HEROES Hosted by Robert Redford. He is also the author of the three-act musical CROCODILES REMEMBER, to be published this year, and is a co-founder of Indians in the American Media.

 

 

 

NAILA AZAD

A Bengali by birth, Naila Azad is a teaching artist who lives and works in Los Angeles as an actor, dancer, choreographer and director. She has worked extensively in theatre and on television, and has starred in several independent films in India and Bangladesh. Some of her leading roles include Robin Podder's STORM IN THE AFTERNOON and on stage in ACTS OF DESIRE for the Fountain Theatre, THE SCOUNDREL SCAPIN for the Attic Theatre, and AS VISHNU DREAMS for the Cornerstone Theatre, among several others. She received her B.A. from Antioch University and her Masters from UCLA, and is also a founding member of The Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble.

 

 

 

ANUP SUGUNAN

Anup Sugunan’s first acting project was landing a leading role the award-winning independent feature film, TRADE OFFS. He was featured as a special-ability extra on Peter Weir's MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD starring Russell Crowe. His lead role in the powerful post-9/11 short film, NECESSARY ILLUSIONS (a nod to Noam Chomsky) won the Visionary Award at the Washington D.C. Independent Film Festival. JAMEN NANTHAKUMAR

Jamen Nanthakumar was born in Columbia, Maryland and moved to California two years later. He has been acting since the age of eight, has numerous commercial, TV, film and stage credits, and is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild. Some of his favorite credits include VERONICA MARS, THE WAYNE BRADY SHOW, MAXI-DOODLES: BEHIND THE MAKEUP, DADA JI and 27,000 DAYS. His exceptional vocal talents have also made him no stranger to professional musical theater where he has appeared in seven Equity productions over the last two years – most recently as Young Diego de la Vega in the three city (LA, SF and NYC) staged-reading tour of the musical ZORRO. When not working, Jamen enjoys being a typical eighth grader – hanging out with his friends, skateboarding, watching movies and playing video games.

 

 

MICHELLE HANER

A graduate of Harvard University and the Sorbonne, Michelle trained in acting at L’Ecole Jacques LeCoq in Paris and at UCLA where she received her MFA. She has performed extensively with theater companies in France, Spain and Wales. In Los Angeles, Michelle has won critical acclaim for her on-stage performances with the Open Fist Theater Company and is a member of Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA and the Classical Theater Lab. She has also performed in a number of independent films including MAD TWINS, THE WAY DOWN and MERCHANT OF VENICE, and held guest star and co-star roles on television shows including CSI, DRAGNET, DEADWOOD, and ONE ON ONE.

 

KAVI RAZ

From his humble beginnings in India, Kavi Raz has treaded a long and winding path in pursuit of his career as an actor. His perseverance paid-off when he joined the cast of the critically acclaimed television series ST. ELSEWHERE, becoming the first South Asian actor as a regular in a major television program. His landmark appearance lead to other roles in shows such as THE A-TEAM, HARDCASTLE AND McCORMICK, HUNTER, M*A*S*H, as well as work in several feature films. Recently, Kavi made his directorial debut with the film THE GOLD BRACELET, which has garnered considerable praise.

NAVEEN SINGH – Writer / Director / Co-Editor

Naveen Singh was born in Canada, but his filmmaking roots began at a young age in Michigan, where he made numerous short films. After graduating with a BA in English Literature from Michigan State University, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his lifelong passion for filmmaking. He was awarded the prestigious Broccoli Scholarship for academic achievement at the University of Southern California, and has recently completed his MFA. In addition to his work as a writer/director, he has edited several projects that have screened at venues as diverse as the DGA, the Television Academy, Country Music Television, and Yahoo Music online. He is also an Honoree of Film Independent’s Project: Involve, a workshop for emerging filmmakers.

 

LAUREN WAGNER – Producer

Lauren Wagner has a B.A. in Television Production from San Francisco State University and an MFA from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television. While in San Francisco, she directed and produced a short documentary about the popularity of Swing Dance and Music in the Bay Area, which aired on the local PBS affiliate.

Before attending grad school at USC, she worked on various television and commercial projects in her hometown of Sacramento, California and spent six months living in Dublin, Ireland where she worked on several short subject documentary films under the guidance of filmmaker George Stoney.

At USC, she produced seven thesis films, including 27,000 DAYS, as well as writing and directing the award-winning short film, THE COUNTER.

 

GREG JOHNSON – Producer

After majoring in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Pomona College, and a three year stint working at a Litigation Consulting firm, Greg Johnson decided to make a career out of his favorite hobby – filmmaking.

He received his MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California where he focused on writing, directing, and producing. He produced three short films budgeted between $12,000 and $30,000 and ran the Student Production Office, a support network for all USC student film productions.

He has directed over ten short films, screened in film festivals, and is the recipient of the USC Preuss Directing Scholarship. Currently, Greg is working on a computer game, an independent sitcom pilot, and writing and producing independent feature films.

 

BRYON CUNNINGHAM – Director of Photography

Bryon Cunningham is a 2005 M.F.A. graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television. Before film school, he completed a Ph.D. in philosophy, where his work in aesthetics first led to an interest in the visual arts. That interest developed in film school, where he regularly worked as a cinematographer for fellow students.

 

JEREMY PHILLIPS – Editor

Jeremy Phillips has written and directed numerous short films and videos, including several comedic sketches for the Chris Farley Foundation starring Adam Sandler and David Spade. The finished project screened at the White House in 2005. As an editor, he's won a Zoom-In Award, and short films he's edited have screened at the Tribeca and First Look (at the DGA) film festivals. Additionally, he graduated from the University of Southern California with an MFA in Film Production. Prior to attending USC, he won awards for his short fiction from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Duquesne University.

 

CARRIE McGLOTHLEN – Composer

Born near Chicago, Illinois, Carrie McGlothlen always had a passion for music. In 1999, she moved to Pittsburgh to earn her Masters in Music Composition from Carnegie Mellon University.

By 2001, Carrie moved to Los Angeles to attend University of Southern California's Film Scoring program. While at USC, she recorded ten film cues at Paramount Studios, worked with many USC directors, and studied with the legendary composers Buddy Baker, David Raksin, and Jack Smalley. Later, at composer Chris Young's invitation, Carrie recorded her first CD of film compositions at his studio.

Carrie continues to write music for both film and television. Among her credits are ALOHA, SCOOBY-DOO for Warner Bros. in cooperation with National Geographic, music for STARTING OVER, the NBC reality series, and educational films for California Public Schools, the Starbright Foundation, and Eye Opener Productions. She has also scored many independent films including the documentary, LISTEN, which won awards at the Student Academy Awards and the Black Maria Film Festival.
